Description:
Desmoglein 1 is a member of the desmosomal
cadherin family that comprise the desmogleins
and desmocollins. Desmosomes are cell-cell
junctions in most epithelial cells and serve to link
the intermediate filament cytoskeletons of
adjacent cells. Within the desmosome the
extracellular domain of desmoglein is essential
for calcium dependent heterophilic binding to the
desmocollins, whereas the intracellular domain
is essential for binding to the desmosomal
plaque protein, plakoglobin. Desmoglein 1 is
synthesized exclusively in the suprabasal layers.
Intact and functionally active desmolgein 1 is
essential to epidermal integrity.
Specificity:
The antibody reacts with the 165 kDa
desmoglein 1 protein. Furthermore it does NOT
cross-react with desmoglein 2 or desmolglein 3.
Clone 27B2 does NOT inhibit the biological
activity of desmolein 1.

Species Reactivity:
Human. Others not tested.
Format:
1 mL at 100 μg/mL of 0.2 μm filtered antibody
solution in PBS, containing 0.02% sodium azide
and 0.1% protein stabilizer.
Storage:
Store at 4°C.
Applications and Suggested Dilutions:

Immunofluorescence: Use at a 1:10 dilution.

Immunohistology: frozen sections

Immunoprecipitation: Use at a 1:10 dilution.

Western blotting
The optimal dilution for a specific application
should be determined by the researcher.
