MAPKAPK5(MAP kinase-activated protein kinase 5) is also named as PRAK and belongs to the CAMK Ser/Thr protein kinase family. MAPKAPK5 contains the conserved protein kinase domains I through XI, which are characteristic of all protein kinases. It is a major stress-activated kinase that can phosphorylate small heat shock protein, suggesting a potential role for PRAK in mediating stress-induced HSP27 phosphorylation in vivo(PMID:9628874).
